The SSTC Club Champions Recap
Last Saturday morning started out wet but thanks to our great Georgian Bay weather system things cleared out and we were able to run the SSTC club championships in 3 categories after an 1.5 hour rain delay!!
Congratulations to our new club champions!!
The team of Robin Young and Val Hay combined power-hitting on offence and relentless defence to get past the strong pairing of Eli Taylor and Barb Weir in the Ladies Doubles final. Congrats Robin & Val!
The Men’s doubles final took three sets to decide the winner, with Peter Singer and Angus Tucker eventually prevailing over Brett Marchand and Brian Chapman. Congrats Peter & Angus!!
On the singles court, Ben Eaves played with outstanding accuracy and consistency to take home the trophy. He kept the ball deep even while returning the high-speed serves David Young sent his way. Congratulations Ben!!
The stands were full of cheering fans for all three matches! Many thanks to all for coming out to support our finalists and your flexibility with the start time change to accommodate the rain delay.
You may want to catch the mixed doubles featuring Susan O’Reilly and Kevin Bub versus Barb Weir and Gord O’Reilly this Saturday, September 4 at 10:30.
Thanks to all the players for making this year one of our most successful tournaments ever. We had huge participation, lots of fun and some excellent tennis.
See you next year.
